“Pocket Symphony”
Here’s a quick track-by-track run down of what I think of Air’s new (as yet unreleased) album, Pocket Symphony:
Track 1: “Space Maker”
Dark, instrumental, good.
Track 2: “Once Upon A Time”
Sonically similar to the feel of Talkie Walkie; this is a good thing.
Track 3: “One Hell of a Party”
Interesting, different, growing on me.
Track 4: “Napalm Love”
I never noticed one of the guys has a lisp…
Track 5: “Mayfair Song”
Slow, mellow and simple.
Track 6: “Left Bank”
I almost feel like the male vocals ruin this track.
Track 7: “Photograph”
Hits like Moon Safari, but not as good.
Track 8: “Mer Du Japon”
Upbeat. Different. Jury’s still out on this one.
Track 9: “Lost Message”
Meh. Slow and somewhat cheesy, but nevertheless relaxing.
Track 10: “Somewhere Between Waking and Sleeping”
Fairly non-standard, but Neil Hannon’s voice works well.
Track 11: “Redhead Girl”
Good enough, but nothing to write home about.
Track 12: “Night Sight”
Mellow mellow mellow. Almost TOO mellow.
Overall, I like it. It’s not Moon Safari or Talkie Walkie, but it’s good and fits in very well with the rest of their catalogue.
