On Hosted Blogs and Ads
Lately, I’ve noticed a few Tumblr-hosted tumblelogs that contain ads. This creates an unfair situation: Tumblr absorbs all the cost of hosting (including maintenance and support costs), but only the blog author receives money generated by the ads. I’m not saying that people can’t put ads on their websites, but if you’re not putting up any money to host and maintain your site, you shouldn’t be profiting from it either.
Update: Cameron points out that Davidville says “Ads are a-okay”, but I maintain that ads on a site that is hosted for free sit in a grey area.
