Ex-music exec claims "Music 1.0 is dead"

The ridiculousness of versioning something like music aside, the meat of the article is interesting. The article gives the impression that the music industry truly is beginning to realize that the future of their business will look nothing like their business has in the past. And that’s a good thing.

My biggest fear for the music industry, though, is that the public relations damage has been done, and there’s little they can do to fix it. I recently received an e-mail from someone who works for the record industry and I think they said it best:

Trying to right this ship has been so difficult, it’s approaching futile. By the time we get anything right, we’ve already gotten everything else wrong.
