Quick Review: "Sky Blue Sky"
Wilco’s new album can be summed up in a single, potentially made up, word: underwhelming. Sky Blue Sky is by no means a bad album…but it’s not a particularly good album either. There are notes of Van Morrison, a little Bob Dylan, and even some Beatles in the music, but overall it feels bland and falls somewhat flat. If you’re a big Wilco fan, in particular their earlier...
Famous Cartoon Skeletal Systems →
Similar to the Pac-Mac skeleton I posted recently, here’s an art project that shows what the skeletal systems of some famous cartoon characters skeletons would look like. Me? I like Marvin the Martian.
White Stripes new video, “Icky Thump.” And if you don’t think this band just gets better and better, then you’re crazy.

Microsoft Surface! ZOMG!!
Early this morning, Microsoft announced their “new” technology, Surface, and so far this morning I’ve heard a lot of ridiculous things said. Here’s a quick sampling… Ive seen somthing [sic] like it *coughs*iPhone*cough* # Or this one… I’m quite taken away. Well done Microsoft! # But the inherent problem with both those quotes is this: neither Apple...

Wine Library TV →
If you like wine and are even moderately podcast savvy, this podcast is for you. A daily podcast where host, Gary Vay-Ner-Chuck, tries and reviews wine. One of the most entertaining podcasts I watch/listen to. HIGHLY recommended.

On the one hand, I hate to be party to this LOLcatz ridiculousness. On the other hand, this is entirely too awesome to not post…

Is This How You Think of Me?
I’m subscribed to NPR’s Science Friday podcast, and on this week’s show, there was a segment of particular interest to me (being a music lover and all). The segment was titled “Picking Music Hits,” and the segment left a terrible taste in my mouth.
The segment was an interview with Mike McCready and discussed his new company, Platinum Blue. This company has created...

St. Louis "BBQ"
I moved to St. Louis from Memphis, TN, and for those who don’t know, Memphis is the pork BBQ capital of EVERYWHERE. It literally has the best pulled pork BBQ sandwiches you’re going to find this side of our solar system.
Today, after living in STL for approximately 9 months, my wife and I got brave and decided to try some St Louis BBQ. And the verdict? A massive, yawn-inducing, meh....

5 Mac Sites I Read Daily: DaringFireball - John Gruber is a nice reminder that good journalism still exists (even if he misses the mark on occasion). The Macalope - one part humor and one part scathing commentary. Always a great read. MacRumors - gotta stay on top of the action, right? Plus, these are bar-none, the best Mac forums on the ‘net. MacApper - a new site to my daily-read list,...

A TIME article about 37Signals. It’s a nice, if a bit quick, look at the company with plenty of good-sense nuggets regarding running a business like theirs.
End of the Mac mini?
According to this AppleInsider article, the end of the Mac mini is upon us. A number of people are all up-in-arms over this, but I have to ask: why? The Mac mini is by no means the “sweet-spot” for the Mac line-up, the low-end iMac is. By my way of thinking, the mini is for 3 types of people: Those who have their own display, keyboard, and mouse ready to go and want to TRY Mac....

A Tale of Two Records
This past week, I listened to two new, very different records: Mirrored by the Battles and Minutes to Midnight by Linkin Park. One of these albums is excellent, and the other is offensively bad. We’ll start with the one that didn’t suck.
Mirrored is a difficult album to describe. It’s a little TV on the Radio, a little Explosions in the Sky, a little Pink Floyd, and a little...

Music: Rent or Own?
The latest episode of the Mac Roundtable Podcast discusses the possibility of an iTunes subscription service. A couple of the panelists made some interesting points, but I think they also miss the major crux of a (typical) subscription service. The Good: In the typical online music subscription service, you can listen to every song they offer whenever you’d like. You can put it on your...

Regarding the Minor Redesign
You might have noticed that I redesigned the site? The main reason for this was that the font I was using for the last version, Garamond, renders horribly on Windows (even with ClearType turned on).
I wasn’t exactly going for any “feel” in particular with the new design; I just wanted a change of pace. I hope you like it, and encourage you to tell me what you think.

I think it’s sad that customer service has devolved to such a state that it warrants someone writing an article detailing the out-of-the-ordinary, good experience they had.
